This Mission Policy establishes the Presbyterian Church of Vanuatu’s framework for mission, affirming that the Church has two central responsibilities: worship and mission. It describes mission as the whole Church taking the whole Gospel to the whole world and calls congregations, Sessions and Presbyteries to participate through prayer, giving, sending and active involvement in mission. The policy defines the responsibilities of the Ministry and Missionary Committee and the Secretary on Mission, and provides guidance for Session and Congregation Mission Committees. It also establishes financial responsibilities for mission support, including mission accounts, mission boxes, fundraising and support for mission workers. The policy includes eligibility criteria for short-term and long-term missionaries, qualifications and expectations for missionary candidates, procedures for selecting missionaries and missions to support, procedures for sending and reviewing support, termination of support, partnership agreements with overseas churches and mission organisations, and areas where mission partnerships may be developed. The policy also encourages contextual mission policies at Congregation, Session and Presbytery level, provided they remain consistent with the wider Mission Policy of the Presbyterian Church of Vanuatu.
